When it comes to the world of nutrition, I feel like an explorer. There is so much to discover, learn and try!
Nutrition turns even experts into beginners at times. We are trying to make sense of it all – food properties, how our bodies work (physiology, biochemistry, metabolism, genetics) and how they respond to what we eat, how food affects our health and how it can cause disease. My own knowledge, opinions and convictions are constantly evolving, expanding, being challenged as well as changing. And that is what's so fascinating!
Through my blog, I am going to present information and deliver advice. After all, education strengthens ones ability to make the right choices. But I want to be more than a messenger. My mission is to inspire and empower you to experiment, be open and try new things. Even little changes can make a big impact on your health and life. Not everything will work for you in terms of taste or effectiveness but at least you can say you have tried. And if not now, maybe one day. When you are ready to.
So what can you look forward to? There are three areas I plan to focus on.
Back to basics
Because most of the time, it is simply about food, shopping and cooking.
I will share my passion for wholesome, nourishing and delicious food through practical and easy tips, recipes (my own and of others), recommendations of products to try, books to read and blogs to check out. Basically, provide you with the tools you need to make positive changes. I may also cover topics related to lifestyle - exercise, natural beauty products and self-care - all things that are a part of being healthy and feeling happy.
Nutrition science and research
This is where I will discuss news related to health and nutrition, current research and other relevant and sometimes controversial topics and issues. We all know messages in the media can be misleading, confusing and often manipulated by industries that have financial gain interest. I will try to make sense of the information out there, give you my opinion and help you to build confidence to make your own mind up and decide what works for YOU, a unique individual.
Psychology of eating
Eating is more than satisfying hunger. There are many layers surrounding food choices - cultural, social, habitual, behavioural, emotional, financial to name but a few. I will try to assist you in peeling off these layers, helping you to think about what kind of eater you are and why you buy and eat foods you do. It is a personal area to explore but one that is necessary to be aware of in order to make changes.
Nutrition is a science – it can be a hit but also a miss. But when you find a solution to your problem, or pass information on to help others, it feels victorious and worth the trial and error journey. A journey that leads to a place called WELLNESS. Wouldn’t we all like to discover or re-discover it? I am certainly on my way and I would love YOU to come with me!
It goes without saying, that I welcome your feedback, comments and own experiences.
My blog is all about learning and sharing!
